Need a Professional Groomer?
Your dog should be regularly groomed according to the demands of his coat type. Grooming requirements may be daily (for long-haired dogs) or less than once a week (for a short-haired pet). Some breeds require specialized coat care. For example, some terriers' coats require hand stripping by someone familiar with their coat type in order to keep the fur in top condition. While keeping your dog's fur free of mats and outside debris such as seed pods, twigs, leaves, etc., is the main thing that most pet owners associate with the grooming ritual, it's not all that needs doing! During grooming, you should check your dog for the presence of ticks and fleas, or any other beastie that might be hitching a free ride! You should check your dog's eyes and ears for debris and keep them clean. Some dogs need hair removed regularly from the inside of their ears. Also check the ears for redness, unusual odors, or other signs of irritation. Nail clipping and teeth brushing should also be part of the regular grooming routine. If you don't feel up to tackling these tasks on a regular basis, you need the services of a professional dog groomer! If you
